New Curriculum and Year End Fun

While lots of schools and families are gearing up for the end of their school year, we've decided to keep going throughout the summer to keep up what we've been learning and to continue learning new things as we gear up for our big move.

One of the subjects that are always popular in our house is art, especially when Nana comes to visit. This last visit had lots of lessons on how to sketch, draw, and expand on our creativity.

Ava's taken a real interest in the kitchen, especially with making smoothies. She's been able to come up with her own recipes, ask for ingredients on the grocery list, as well as making it all on her own. We are all so proud with the initiative that she's taken in learning how to make things herself, including a personal favourite of hers, French Toast (which Owen now calls Ava Toast).

It's been a very active week here as Ava had her big year-end dance recital! All the dancers did such an amazing job and it was such a joy to watch!

Ava was so nervous, but she worked hard and did so amazing with both her St. Andrew's and Sword dances!

In preparing for new year, I spent a lot of time researching the difference curriculums and plans that are available for homeschoolers. While I found some things that had been working for us over the last two years, I was hoping for something that was a little more all encompassing and easy to work with.

I was so incredibly happy to find the Good and Beautiful! Not only are the plans parent/teacher friendly, but they are written in a way that keeps the kids engaged and making the learning fun. The best part is that all the Math and Language Art material is free for a PDF download! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for an easy to use and engaging resource. Check out Good and Beautiful for more information and all the incredible units they have (I am not sponsored by them, I just really enjoy their material).
